What I remember from this first visit is walking around the small town of Narita, close to Narita airport and being amazed at the many drunk businessmen in the
streets and it was only about six in the evening! I also remember trying to by a CD player and being told I couldn’t because it was only for Japanese cusotomers. How things have changed since then.

A combination of work and pleasure. During a very wet weekend I managed to do some shopping, go geocaching and visit the old castle at Himeji.

As always, a combination of work and pleasure. In addition to working in Kobe a short visit to Kyoto was made. Travel between Kobe and Kyoto was done with a combination
of Shinkansen, subway and taxis. Getting to the Golden Pavillion in this way was rather convenient. Visiting it in the autumn as opposed to springtime was quite a contrast. No cherry blossoms but still a
lot of colour.
