Where you choose to go has a huge reflection on what you need to do in advance,
what you need to take with you and what you will experience when you get to your destinations. Your choice of destination may also be linked to where you live, how much time is available, your interests
and last but not least the state of your economy. I have been in the fortunate position to work for a multinational company with a global marketplace. They have sent me to many of my destinations.
Even so, I enjoy travelling as a hobby as well and from both worlds I have picked up lots of experiences and tips along the way.

Asia Asia for most travellers is a beach in Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and the tourist route up
through Guilin, Xian and Beijing perhaps with Shanghai thrown in as well. For my own part, I have spent most time in the northern part of Asia, meaning Japan, South Korea and China. In total, about three
years. Visits to South East Asia have been limited to Singapore, and equally small parts of Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. The north of China is very cold in Winter, and South Korea and Japan can
also be rather cool. On the other hand summers are hot and humid. The most comfortable time to visit is thus springtime or autumn, but as you can guess the rest of the tourists know this as well. There
are also a number of days in the year which are national holidays in each country where, in principal, the whole population is travelling somewhere. Try to avoid them.

Africa For many, myself included, this is the unknown continent. It is unbelievably rich in natural
resources but the political, and humanitarian problems discourage many visitors. I have found South Africa and Lesotho easy to travel in.

Americas Perhaps many people visiting this site will come from USA looking for reports of travelling in
other parts of the world. Don’t forget that there are many fantastic but little known areas in North America as well. Most of my travelling in the Americas has been in USA and Canada, Eastern, Western
and Southern states. My dream for the future is to visit the Rockies, the Caribbean islands, and Central America.

Europe This is where I start my journeys. It is also an area that is fantastic for cultural tourism and
has some great unexplored places for backpacking. If you want wilderness, you don’t need to travel to Africa or South America, just travel to northern Sweden, Norway or Finland. All are exotic and
relatively easily accessible.

Oceania As this includes Australia and New Zealand in my definition is is another large area to cover.
Both New Zealand and Australia are very popular and very easy to travel in, but don’t forget to include a stopover on one or more of the many islands in the area. One of my favourites is Fiji.
